Planning Tubs

You will need 5 plastic tubs for this organizational idea. Label each tub with a different day - “Monday,” “Tuesday,” etc. Put daily lesson plans, worksheets, props, games, books, words to songs, and so forth in the tubs. Everything you will need for each day is in one convenient place. By doing this Friday afternoon, you’ll be all set for the following week. (This would also be helpful for a sub!)

Student Portfolios

Make a display pocket for each child from a file folder. Cut a 1 ¼” border around the top half of the file folder. Let children decorate it with their name and pictures. Laminate. Fold in half and staple to a bulletin board or tape to a cubby. Children can display their own work by slipping drawings, stories, etc. in the pocket. Hint! You can also use a clear sheet protector to display children’s work.

Hint!

Be sure to have children date their work
Store journals in a box or a file cabinet.
Let children take their portfolios home once a month to share with their parents.
Encourage parents to write responses to their children’s work.
