CHEERS, CHANTS,
AND CELEBRATIONS

These ideas are great for focusing children's attention and encouraging them throughout the day!

"Raise the Roof"- Extend palms as you raise arms up and down in the air.

"Cowboy Cheer"- Put index finger in the air and make a circular motion as you say, "Yeehaw!"

"Shine Your Halo"- Children open palm and move in in a circular motion over their head.

"Two Thumbs Up"- Put up thumbs in front of you and make a hissing noise as you bend your elbows and say, "Two thumbs up and give it some steam."

"Kiss Your Brain"- Touch fingers to lips, kiss, then touch head.

"Opera Applause"- Tap index fingers together.

"Silent Cheer"- Put hands in the air and cheer as you open mouth and silently scream.

"WOW!"- Make the letter "w"with each hand by extending three middle fingers. Make an "o" with your mouth and place hands on either side of your head.

"You Did a Good Job!"- Extend right finger in the air in front of your body, then down as you sing, "Ah,ah, ah, ah, you did a good job! You did a good job! to tune from "Saturday Night Fever."

"That's the Way I Like It"- Wiggle fingers to the left and right in front of you as you sing, "That's the way, uh huh uh huh, I like it."

"Pat yourself on the Back"- Take right hand, extend it across chest and pat the back of your left shoulder.

"Give Yourself a Gold Star"- Pretend to kiss right index finger and touch it to your forehead.

"Standing Ovation"- Stand up and make an oval with your arms over your head.

"Fantastic!"- Make a fist with your left hand in front of you and pretend to squeeze as you say "Sh-sh-sh."Hold up right palm and move in a circular motion as you say, "Fantastic!"

"Sprinkler"- Point with your left hand and swing it in a semi circle in front of your body as you go,
"Shhhhhhh."Move arm in opposite direction making a "T-t-t-t-t-t-t"sound.

"Beethoven"- Pretend to hold a cello as you sing, "Da-da-da-da. Da-da-da-da." to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
